[Classifieds] Craigslist
craigslist.org
craigslist is about:Well I'm moving to a new apartment with a friend this month and where do we turn to find out what's available, Craigslist. This site rocks, it's a free service (unless you're a business) classifieds site on the web that's been around forever and somehow manages to stay incredibly simple and ad free. I even found my job on this site.
- giving each other a break, getting the word out about everyday, real-world stuff.
- restoring the human voice to the Internet, in a humane, non-commercial environment.
- keeping things simple, common-sense, down-to-earth, honest, very real.
- providing an alternative to impersonal, big-media sites.
- being inclusive, giving a voice to the disenfranchised, democratizing ...
- being a collection of communities with similar spirit, not a single monolithic entity.
San Francisco (my home) is the biggest Craigslist, but there are versions for tens of cities all over the world.
Now, Craigslist does a lot, and I will say that it's not always the best tool when it comes to getting stuff sold quickly or for the best price, but it's community attitude really does make it a great little piece of the web.
